DERBENT HEPP

Derbent Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Kızılırmak River, 15 km southwest of Bafra district of Samsun. The annual generation capacity of the power plant of which installed power is 56.4 MW (2x25.2MW+1x6MW) is estimated as 257 million kWh.

The construction works of Derbent Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant located in the Kızılırmak Basin started on February 22, 1985 by DSI and was completed in mid-1991 and put into operation. The body volume of the dam, which was built in clay core rock fill type, is 2.500.000 m³, the body height is 34 m and the crest length is 517 m. The lake volume is 212.5 hm³ at the maximum operating level and the lake area is 16.50 km² at the normal water level. The energy produced at the power plant is given to the interconnected system via Altınkaya HEPP and Bafra Switchyard.
