KESİKKÖPRÜ HEPP

Kesikköprü Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Kızılırmak River, 25 km from Hirfanlı HEPP and 110 km from Ankara. It has a total installed power of 76 MW with 2 generators, each of which is 38 MW, and its annual generation capacity is estimated as 250 million kWh.

The construction of the Kesikköprü Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the Kızılırmak Basin, started in 1959. The project, whose civil works were carried out by Latif Sepil and Buros(Turkey)and hardware-related works by FrancoTosi–Ansaldo–Ercole Marelli (Italy) companies, started to hold water on 11.12.1966 and was put into operation on 27.02.1967. The body volume of the dam, which was built in soil and rock body fill type, is 812.000 m³, crest height is 49 m, and crest length is 265 m. The lake volume at the maximum water level is 110 hm³, and the lake area is 6.50 km².
