SEYHAN 1 HEPP

Seyhan-1 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Seyhan River in the Çukurova Region, 8 km north of Adana. It has a total installed power of 60 MW with its 3 generators, each of which is 20 MW, and its annual production capacity is foreseen as 350 million kWh.

The construction of the Seyhan-1 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was started in 1953 and its first production was realized on 08.04.1956.

The body volume of the dam, which was built in earth fill type, is 7.500.000 m³, the body height is 73.2 m, and the crest length is 1.955 m. The lake volume at the maximum water level is 831 hm³. 

It was also built in order to save the agricultural lands and Adana city center from flooding that may be caused by the Seyhan River.
