TORTUM HEPP

Tortum Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on Tortum Lake in Uzundere district of Erzurum province. The power plant with an installed power of 26.2 MW (2x5,6MW+2x7.5MW) has an annual power generation capacity of 100 million kWh.

Tortum Lake was formed as a result of a mountain landslide in the west of today's Balıklı Village in the mid-1700s. The construction of Tortum Hydroelectric Power Plant started in 1952, and units 1 and 2 were completed and put into operation in 1960. Units 3 and 4, which were assembled after the third stage expansion construction, were put into service in 1972.

The filling volume of the Concrete Threshold (Natural lake) body is 3.185 m³, its length is 79 m, the lake volume is 57.5 hm³ and the lake area is 4.1 km².
